Dover Floating Lido

In parallel with the masterplan project for Dover Waterfront, Baca developed a concept for a landmark floating lido, a prototype for similar lidos around the world. Inspired by the iconic White Cliffs of Dover and using Ultra High Performance materials, it has a lightweight anchored structure akin to a ship’s hull, with large keel-like wedges to steady the form in coastal storms. Bathing water is filtered and heated for temperate climates. The cavernous form echoes weathered coastal cliffs and creates enclosures to shield from the midday sun alongside plenty of exposed decks for sunbathing.

International investors have approached Baca and we are looking forward to seeing offspring of the design on shores home and abroad.
