Background

BACA has recently developed new housing typologies for the Indian market, creating resilient homes which pay homage to more traditional Indian households whilst simultaneously providing a modern take.

On a wider scale, these homes have been explored as wider development clusters which can be implemented in the Pune region of India.

Process

Our approach started by first establishing traditional rules and DNA of Indian Villas.

Among them was the idea of a multi-directional model with directions being symbolic of certain deities.

This, in turn enforcing how we laid out these spaces. Materiality was another aspect that was explored, which further developed a shading method and tessellated façade.

Architecture

These Villas are the perfect blend of tradition and modern comfort, creating spaces that feel interconnected blending inside and outside.
