AquaNine: The World's First Floating Golf Course

Design Team: BACA architects and PASTE Golf Design

Illustrated plan of AquaNine implementation course featuring a floating final hole with clubhouse, marina, putting green, boat moorings, and a floating bridge connecting to land.

Background

AquaNine, the world’s first floating golf course, has been unveiled by BACA architects and PASTE Golf Design, merging British creativity with cutting-edge Dutch engineering.

This revolutionary concept reimagines the sport, offering a fully modular, ultra-luxury golfing experience set against a dramatic oceanic backdrop.

Process

The striking pavilion was designed as an anchor for thegolf course, piercing the sky and creating panoramic views across the golfcourse.

Architecture

Accessible only by yacht, players arrive at a private marina before ascending via a glass lift into a striking clubhouse that overlooks an archipelago of floating holes. Each hole can be repositioned, allowing for endless course configurations and challenges to suit both amateurs and professionals. The final hole is a true showstopper: a hybrid structure combining a marine base, a putting green, a clubhouse, and even a casino. It forms the beating heart of the course and promises an unforgettable finale. AquaNine delivers more than a game; it offers a once-in-a-lifetime sporting experience, where innovation and indulgence meet on the open sea.
