The proposed hotel sits respectfully on the site flowing around the lake shores curvatures. Regarding its materiality, a contemporary high-tech solution is proposed for the facade and the structure. The proposed materials apart from curtain walling will be mineral based and their texture and colour will make reference to the local vernacular architecture and local materials such as York stone.

The Resort

As you cross the threshold onto this spectacular site you immediately begin to get the sense of its natural beauty that becomes increasingly apparent the further you explore. This graceful natural habitat is made up of 65 acres of lakes and 100 acres of woodland becoming the first luxury resort of its kind in the UK.

Multiple styles of accommodation, leisure activities, and intimate resting places create the perfect environment to promote wellness and wellbeing. Coupled with the beautiful views, the sounds of the water and the birds in the trees create a sense of tranquillity that immerses you in comfort and generates relief from a busy working life. With great transport links via car, train and aeroplane, you can be part of this wonderful atmosphere in no time at all.

The accommodation comprises of a 104-bedroom luxury 4 star hotel and spa, and 200 waterside and woodland lodges.

The hotel has been designed in a way to appear harmonious with nature through its curving facades, mirroring the curves in the waters edge. The building frames incredible individual views of the lakes and is able to harvest natural sunlight throughout the course of the day. The hotel houses 104 luxury rooms, fine dining restaurant alongside a superior spa and wellness centre including a fitness suite and both an indoor and outdoor natural pool enabling guests to relax and reconnect with nature.

This development reflects a wider Masterplan of the whole lakeside and surrounding forests that creates a wide range of interactions and activities within the nature reserve whilst not compromising on luxury.

The lodges are delicately placed within the nature reserve to prevent any damage to the site and its ecosystems. 25% are surrounded by the woodland, creating the perfect environment for couples and families to retreat into nature and explore a number of beautiful countryside walks. The remainder of the lodges will be floating on the lake itself, creating luxury without the detrimental effect on the environment, but instead offering the occupants the opportunity to immerse themselves with nature further through actually residing on the water.

The 2, 3 and 4 bedroom lodges luxurious qualities come through generous internal spaces, with a large external terrace with a built in hot tub and interior finishes specified by Armani Interiors.

This new approach to water based design is highly innovative, with the most spectacular part of the design coming through the bespoke thermal energy system designed by Geyser, which utilises the lake as an energy source to provide hot water and central heating to all of the lodges.

This innovative system pumps water in a more efficient way, reducing lime scale which is also safer for the equipment involved and in turn requires less maintenance. The water is then pumped to heat pumps that are powered by solar panels and a highly advanced Immersa battery system, providing the ability to heat the water in the lake from 8 degrees up to 65 degrees. All unused water is then pumped through a state of the art water filtration system and in turn provides the clean and cold-water storage for the lodges. The most impressive element of this innovative heating solution is that it will be applied to buildings that are constantly changing elevation due to the water levels changing around the floating lodges.

The Tyram Lakes Resort will provide an ecologically sensitive, sophisticated, forward-thinking concept to rejuvenate a brownfield site and enhance its natural settings. A perfect location for a retreat.
