RESEARCH AND BOOKS

As leading specialists Baca have combined their research into water-related architecture into an overarching thesis and new architectural typology called Aquatecture. Baca have presented their research around the world from the World Water Forum in Mexico City, to the Netherlands, Paris, Jakarta and New Orleans. Aquatecture is a water-centric approach to design in which flood-risk management, development pressure and adaptation to climate change are simultaneously reconciled to allow buildings and cities to live and work with water

TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Baca have received numerous awards from the project and research work from national organisations such as the RIBA and international organisations such as IULA. Prestigious awards include: the RIBA Presidents award for research, Urban Research Group-Practice of the year, Waterways Renaissance Award, International Urban Landscape Award and EU Regio Star Award.

Making Space for Water

As first the motorcar transformed 20th century town planning, so it will be water that shapes our communities in the 21st century. Baca is internationally recognised for innovation in flood-resilient and adaptable architecture and spatial-planning. Their work demonstrates the leading role that architecture can play in addressing these crucial issues.

A sustainable future lies beyond the waterfront!
