12.12.2011 : BACA director's grand design

Robert Barker, director of Baca Architects, and architect fiancee, have recently obtained planning permission to build themselves a new home in south east London. And, not content with the stress of the build they will be organising their wedding for the same year. Happy 2012! More....
Robert and Jessica's new house will form part of a small mews development in Forest Hill and, as you'd expect from two perfectionists, achieving exacting standards for the cutting-edge design will be a top priority.
Robert and Jessica intend to build three eco houses, trained to a geometric design and clad with striking green walls that will create an urban oasis in the midst of the city.
The "vertical gardens" were inspired by the forms created by ivy clinging to trees in the winter and are designed to create variety throughout the year with a mix of deciduous and evergreen plants, carefully chosen to flower at different times.
Built around a central courtyard, each of the properties will have also small private courtyard adjacent to the living and work spaces for off-road parking provision. Construction work is due to start in the new year and is scheduled to be completed within 12 months, with a wonderful wedding somewhere in the middle!
News updates will appear on Baca's blog on a regular basis plus we'll be presenting the scheme at the GDLive Show in May 2012.
